We are delighted to welcome you and your child to this year's preparation for the sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion. At Prince of Peace Parish, we are committed to nurturing the faith journey of our young parishioners, and we are honored to be a part of this important milestone in your child's spiritual life.
In Year 1, your child will be introduced to the beauty of our Catholic faith and the sacraments that serve as gateways to a life of grace. This year is all about laying a strong foundation, helping your child understand the love of God, the importance of prayer, and the significance of the sacraments in our daily lives.
As your child progresses into Year 2, we will dive deeper into the sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation, and Holy Communion. This year is about growing in faith, understanding the gift of the Holy Spirit, and preparing to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. We will walk alongside your child every step of the way, ensuring they are ready to fully participate in these sacred mysteries.
We look forward to a year filled with faith, learning, and spiritual growth. Together, let us guide our children in discovering the joy of living as beloved children of God.
With prayers and blessings,
Tyler Nadeau
Director of Evangelization & Catechesis
A Special Note to Catholic School Families
We are pleased that you have made the sacrifices needed to send your children to Catholic Schools. We at the parish partner with the Catholic Schools to offer the Sacramental program for your children. Since your children have religion classes daily, the educational part of the preparation is provided by the school. However, the Sacraments are received in the parish. Therefore, you must enroll your children in the Sacramental Programs provided by the parish, which will include the retreats and a few supplemental items to complete their preparation. Retreat dates can be found on this page and are mandatory!• In order to be in this program, families MUST be registered with Prince of Peace Parish. If you live and worship in Auburn, please contact Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish to register with them.
• All children enrolled must provide a certificate of baptism if they were not baptized at Prince of Peace Parish.
• To enroll in Year 2 they must have completed year 1.
• If your child is un-baptized or an older child desiring the Sacraments, please call us so that we can discuss your child’s formation in the faith!
Sunday Mass
Attending the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is priority not the icing on the cake. We cannot force our children to have a relationship with God. God Himself never forces anyone to do anything; he merely invites. It is our job, as parents, to make sure our children are present for that invitation. When our kids go to Mass, they will see that the Communion of Saints is made up of real people, old, young, rich, poor, healthy, disabled, good, bad, bored, engaged, sincere, hypocritical, but all united in the same act of worshiping God.
Weekly Classes
These are designed to be fun, liturgical, and virtuous. They call upon the lives of saints to provide examples and dives into our Catechism and Scripture to lead us to encounter Jesus.
